Introduction to Career Counseling
According to the Career Counselor, Duane Brown, career development is needed as much today as it was after the Great Depression because over 11 million Americans are unemployed (Brown, 2016). The basis of career counseling dates back to the late 1800s, as it is human nature to need help and guidance in finding a career that meets the many needs of an individual. Moreover, the continual push for students to make decisions about their college and career paths in high school causes a great deal of stress that may require professional guidance. As a career counselor, I help students focus on their educational and career goals as well as provide interest inventories and objective assessments that allow the students to analyze their own values.
At our school, we want all students to be College and/ or Career Ready! Talk to me about how to accomplish this goal for yourself!
