Counselor Bio: My name is Kayla Dee Stafford. I grew up on a small, working farm in Lewis County, KY that my parents shared with my paternal grandparents. I have one sibling, Leanna, who teaches Kindergarten in Lexington, KY.
(Kayla & Leanna)
My family taught me the values of hard work, education, and providing for ones family. I attended Lewis County High School, then Morehead State University. Upon graduation from MSU, I began teaching English and Drama at my high school alma mater, LCHS. I taught there for ten years, creating the first drama program that the school had ever had and directed over 30 plays/musicals. I also helped to found the Lewis County Theatre Guild in my community where I directed and acted for over ten years. In 2015, I left LCHS to begin teaching English and Drama at Rowan County High School, the county in which my family and I reside. I am the proud director of The Viking Thespians and have directed 7 shows since beginning my work at RCSHS. I also began working on my Counseling Degree, as counseling students is one of my favorite parts of my jobs as an educator. I teach English 100 and 200 for MSU and counsel students in college and career readiness as a part of this course. I also counsel students on a volunteer basis, applying concepts and theories that I am learning in class to meet my student's needs.
Finally, I am a wife and mother. My family and I live on a small farm in Rowan County, much like the one in which I grew up. We have small farm animals and a garden. We love to work outside and watch things grow. My little family is the center of my world.
